HPC resources at UTSA are restriced to UTSA researchers doing active research. For any external users that are collaborating with UTSA faculty & staff on any research it if possible to get an account for access.

To request an account you will need to fill out the Person of Interest (POI) form linked here.

Some things to note when filling it out:
  • Do not check any boxes under POI Type (The section that says Select One), that is for Human Resources to fill out.
  • The 'Date of CBC' is the date you give your consent to have a background check done, so fill in the current date and the appropriate amount for 'Dates of Service.'
  • Under the field 'Type of service peformed (primary duties)' be specific about the type of research you will be performing with your collaborator at UTSA. Failure to outline the type of work you're doing may result in the form getting returned to ask for more information.
  • Be sure to put your printed name and date next to your electronic signature or the form may get returned.
Email the completed form to rcsg@utsa.edu. Once the form is turned in, UTS office of infomation technology will process it and have someone email you to let you know that you have been put in the system.

Setting your UTSA ID passphrase/DUO

Your UTSA ID is a series of three letters and three numbers (often called your abc123), this unique identifier is how you will be known in the system. After you get confirmation your UTSA account has been created you will need to contact the techcafe to set your passphrase. To contact the techcafe you can send them an email techcafe@utsa.edu or call 210-458-5555. They will set up a meeting with you to set your passphrase to log in.

Once you are able to log in you need to log into https://passphrase.utsa.edu/ and setup DUO on your mobile device for two factor authentication.

Once you have UTSA ID setup with DUO

Once you've set up your UTSA account you will need to log into your official UTSA email at http://outlook.com/utsa.edu (this can also be set up with a mail client). In your email there will be a Docusign document for 'Position of Special Trust' that must be completed before you request an HPC account. Failure to accept the docusign may result in the account getting revoked.

Requesting an HPC account

Once you have a valid UTSA account you can submit tickets in the utsa service now portal here. To get an HPC account submit a ticket for item New HPC Account. In the section asking for the name of your faculty sponsor or PI, put in the name of your collaborator at UTSA. Once the ticket is processed you will be given instructions on how to log in to our environments. If you are from UTHSCA and not currently working with any UTSA researchers, email rcsg@utsa.edu and they'll inform you who to put into the PI section.
